Transfer projects

Your projects are included

Transfer your projects from the old download software to the new editor*.

Your photos will then be available in MyPhotos for any new project. This applies to all products except calendars.

*The transfer is a voluntary, free service provided by myphotobook. It may fail completely or partially in the case of projects created using very old versions of the software or where files are corrupted. There is no entitlement to this service.

I don’t have a .prj file yet

First, back up your project using the old download software.

Start with Step 1

I already have a .prj file

Upload the file directly.

Start with step 2

Step 1 of 4

Save

In the old download software, you create a file with the extension .prj from your project. It contains all the photos, layouts and text.

IN THE DOWNLOAD SECTION

1.1 Download cloud projects first

If you have any photo products saved in the ‘Cloud Projects’ section of the download software, please download them first. Only local projects on your computer can be exported.

To do this, select a cloud project and click on ‘Load’. Then, in the editor, select ‘Save as’ and click on ‘Save locally’.

IN THE DOWNLOAD SECTION

1.2 Load project

Click on the folder icon ‘Load project’ in the top right-hand corner. Select the project under ‘Local projects’. The date below it shows when it was last amended.

IN THE PROJECT WINDOW

1.3 Click on ‘Help’, not ‘Load’

At the bottom right, you’ll find ‘Help’. The export option is located there. ‘Load’ only opens the project in the old download software.

IN THE HELP DIALOGUE

1.4 Exporting and backing up

Click on ‘Export’, choose a save location – for example, your desktop – and click on ‘Save’. Your .prj file is now stored there. You can ignore the message about customer service; you don’t need to send anything in.

Important: Leave the old download software installed

It is no longer possible to carry out a new installation. You should also keep your .prj file in a safe place, such as on an external hard drive.

Step 2 of 4

Upload

Sign in and upload your .prj file. Your project will then open in the editor, and your photos will be in MyPhotos.

Upload the .prj file here

One file per project. You can transfer several projects one after the other.

Step 3 of 4

Check

Please check each page before placing your order. Some fonts from the old software are being replaced, which may cause text and layouts to shift.

1 Text and writing on every page

2 Position and framing of the photos

3 Cover and spine

4 Order of the pages

Step 4 of 4

Order

Please confirm that you have checked everything. Only then will your project be added to your basket.

Transfer projects

Yes, your projects are included – in four steps: save, upload, check, order. On this page, you’ll find everything explained step by step.

Everything except calendars. You can finalise your calendars in the old download software and order them by 14 November, or you can redesign them in the new editor.

In the old download software:

  1. Click on your project.
  2. Next, select ‘Help’.
  3. Then click on "Export".

You’ll find a detailed description of all the steps, including pictures, further up on this page.

No. When saving locally, the software stores the project in its own directory; you won’t find it there. Only by exporting via ‘Help’ and ‘Export’ will a .prj file be created, which you can then save and transfer yourself.

First, download them to your computer; they’ll only be stored in the cloud for a short time. Then export them as a .prj file as usual.

The .prj file contains all the photos. When you transfer them, they are saved to MyPhotos and are then available for any future projects without the need to upload them again.

Almost. Some fonts from the old software are being replaced, which means that text and layouts may shift slightly. That’s why you should take a quick look at each page before placing your order and confirm that everything is correct.

Just try again. Your .prj file will remain unchanged. If it still doesn’t work, recreate the project in the new editor, or contact our customer service team.

Export the projects from the old computer as .prj files and open them in the new desktop or online editor. You do not need to install the old software on the new computer.

Yes, regarding the project. Save it as a .prj file, transfer it to the new editor and re-order it there.

Our customer service team will be happy to help you: myphotobook.ie/contacts

The old download software can no longer be run securely on current operating systems. To ensure that your work is not lost, we have developed a migration process to the new desktop editor and the online editor. This is a voluntary, free service provided by myphotobook, in addition to what was agreed when you purchased your products.

We go to great lengths to ensure that your projects are transferred in full. However, we cannot guarantee this: projects created using very old versions of the software or damaged files may not be transferred at all, or only partially. A transferred project may also differ from the original, for example in terms of fonts, effects or templates that are no longer available in the new editor. You should therefore check your project in the preview before placing your order.

There is no entitlement to the transfer or to a specific result. Please also make sure you keep your original photos and your exported .prj file yourself. If the transfer does not work, our customer service team will be happy to help you, as far as is technically possible.
