Book cover: matt or glossy finish

Glossy finish book cover

If you want a cover with an image in darker colours, we recommend the glossy finish. It makes darker colours more intense. The gloss effect is enhanced by a special protective foil, making the surface less sensitive to fingerprints, moisture and scratches.

Matt book cover

The hallmark of this surface is its velvety softness and extra matt finish. That means there are no unwanted reflections, which means that bright photographs are particularly effective. Typical of this special surface lamination are the characteristic faint signs of use that appear in the vicinity of the fold. The cover’s edges and corners are always well protected, no matter what format and how many pages your Real-Photo Book has.

Exposed on genuine photographic paper

Do you remember how beautiful photo prints used to look? Your images will come across just as brilliantly in the Real-Photo Book. Quite simply because it is made with the same techniques.

For experts - and anyone else who wants to know: for your Real-Photo Book, the images aren't printed, but created with light. Just like in classic photographic development. Your photos are projected onto the specially coated paper of the Real-Photo Book (1). The projection triggers a chemical reaction in the light-sensitive coating of the paper. This creates a so-called latent image (2). As a result of the subsequent development process, this image becomes visible (3).
This process provides much higher resolution than printing and permits very fine colour gradations. For you, this means a vibrant, high-contrast image with saturated colours and no raster. Colour gradients, particularly on the skin, seem smoother and more even.
